The new Breast Device is the breakthrough to obtaining an easier breast biopsy. It is used to support the breast tissue posterior to the nodule.
The doctor or ultrasound technician holds the device with the handle and places the smooth curved portion against the breast tissue. This allows the surrounding tissue to be supported by a firm wall. As the doctor advances his/her needle, the nodule now has a firm border so the needle can advance more easily. This method is especially effective when obtaining a biopsy of a fibroadenoma.
